Graduate & Professional Student Registration Schedules

The first 15 working days of preregistration (dates listed below) the system is open Monday – Friday 24 hours a day (excluding holidays).
 

Students can check in Howdy (approximately mid- to late October) to view their assigned registration times for both Galveston and College Station.  Students registering for Galveston courses will do so in accordance with the Galveston registration schedule.  Students registering for College Station courses will do so in accordance with the College Station registration schedule below. 

 

Registration for New & Continuing Graduate Students

Continuing graduate students (enrolled Fall 2018, Summer 2018, or Spring 2018) & newly admitted for Spring 2019 graduate students will be provided registration time assignments to start with pre-registration.  

Graduate students admitted after the initial round of registration assignments will be provided a registration time within 24 hours of being officially admitted and will have access to registration in accordance with the graduate student registration schedule.


Graduate students may register for up to 15 hours for the spring term.  A graduate student may register for up to 18 hours during the spring with approval of their college Dean or designee.  Graduate students seeking to enroll in more than 18 hours in the spring will require approval from the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies (OGAPS).   Approvals from Deans or designee and/or OGAPS should be sent to registration@tamu.edu.

Once a student becomes registered during this time they may make changes to their schedule in accordance with Add/Drop registration.

** Students wanting to drop all classes on or after January 14, 2019 must submit a withdrawal request in the Withdrawal channel on My Record tab in Howdy. There is not a 100% refund for withdrawals beginning with the first day of the Spring term.  Refer to Student Business Services for the Refund Policy for Withdrawals and Dropped Courses

Important:

*Students with zero registered hours during the first four (4) class days of summer terms or the first five (5) class days of fall/spring semester will be assessed a $100 late registration fee when they register.

+ Changes to an existing class schedule may result in additional tuition/fees; payment must be made by 5 p.m. in GSC Suite 2801 (Student Business Services) or by 5 p.m. online the day the changes are made to avoid a late fee or cancellation of class schedule. Registration schedule is subject to change.

Students are limited in the number of online registration transactions each semester in order to prevent excessive taxing of our system hardware by users running unsolicited programs to search for available course seats. The majority of students are able to register for classes within this limit.

Users are prohibited from using a "bot," a "script," or other third-party programs to register for classes. Doing so will likely result in exceeding the maximum number of allowed online registration transactions and the loss of registration privileges in Howdy for the term. Students exceeding their limit of online registration transactions will have to conduct any future registration activity for the semester with academic advising staff during open registration.
