Requesting Academic Records

Photo identification may be required to confirm the identity of the requestor in all cases.

For all other requests, please refer to the information below:

To request your student record, send an email from your official Texas A&M University email account that includes your full name used while in attendance, date of birth, and student identification number (if known). Alternatively, you may submit a Records Request Form or a signed written request including the information above in person, fax, mail, or email attachment.
To request a student record other than your own, submit a written request including the full name of the student used while in attendance, date of birth, student identification number (if known), and student signature authorizing release.  The request may be submitted in person, fax, mail, or email attachment.
The student status of deceased must be established (see below) before records are released. To request a deceased student’s record, submit a written request including the full name of the student used while in attendance, date of birth, and student identification number (if known).  The request may be submitted in person, fax, mail, or email attachment.
The rights of an individual established under FERPA expire upon death.  Texas A&M University’s Office of the Registrar exercises discretion in determining if and under what conditions information should be disclosed to survivors, executors, and/or third parties.  Verification of an individual’s death must be received before academic records will be released.

Notification of Death:

An applicant or individual who has been admitted and whose death occurs prior to the first day of class is not considered in attendance and has no applicable education records.  Notification of death should be provided to the Office of Admissions at 979-458-5122.
 
To provide notification of a current student’s death, contact the Offices of the Dean of Student Life at 979-845-3113.

To provide notification of a former student’s death, contact the Office of the Registrar at 979-845-1145.  A death certificate, obituary, or applicable military records will be required in order to update the former student’s record. 
 
To provide notification of a former student’s death for purposes of Aggie Muster or other former student traditions, contact the Association of Former Students at 979-845-7514.
