The Office of the Registrar Athletic Certification team is responsible for the initial and continuing eligibility certification of student athletes attending Texas A&M University. Collaborating with the faculty, staff, and students across campus, we certify that student athletes meet the academic requirements of the NCAA and Southeastern Conference as they pursue their academic degrees. We engage with sport clubs and student organizations to verify individuals and teams meet the academic requirements of their governing organizations for competition as representatives of Texas A&M University. Our team assists in gathering and reviewing academic data for reports, audits, and publications regarding student athletes in higher education.

Sport Clubs/Organization Certification
Sport Clubs are associated through Texas A&M Recreational Sports. Clubs will compete in organized events throughout the academic year, and may require academic certification of its team members in order to determine eligibility for participation or competition. Clubs should verify through Rec Sports, the sport’s governing body, or the host of the competition if academic certification is required for the event, semester, or year. Most sports provide the team with a form or team roster to be filled out and certified prior to the season, event, or championship. A team representative should bring the form/roster to the Office of the Registrar for certification of its team members.
In order to certify the team, each team member must verify they approve of the release of their academic records for certification. This can be done in one of two ways:
- The team roster/form can have a statement which states by signing the form the student approves the release of their academic record for certification; or
- Each team member can fill out, sign and submit with the roster an Information Release for Certification form.
Student organizations may also require academic certification for competitions or representation on a team. Academic certification of members should also be done through the Athletic Certification office within the Office of the Registrar. Please provide a copy of the Information Release Certification form for each member.
