Main Campus

Animal Industries Engineering (AIEN)

Construction on the Animal Industries Building began in 1929 at a cost of $225,000, and the building opened its doors in 1931. It was designed to accommodate the university's animal science department, with the basement containing a meat laboratory under the building's main lecture hall. Today, Animal Industries houses the Departments of Range and Forestry and Ecosystem Science and Management. The Stable Isotopes for Biosphere Science Laboratory, as well as an ecology and natural resources teaching area, is included among the classroom and office space.

Anthropology (ANTH)

The Department of Anthropology is located in the Anthropology Building (#0477) on the Texas A&M University main campus. The Anthropology Building is located next to Evans Library and within walking distance of the Memorial Student Center. Our main office is located on the second floor in Room 234.
The Institute of Nautical Archaeology and the Center for Maritime Archaeology and Conservation are located on the first floor of the Anthropology Building. For specific contact information, please contact our Main Office at (979) 845-5242.
The Center for the Study of the First Americans is located on the second floor of the Anthropology Building.
The Central Campus Parking Garage (CCPG) is located adjacent to the Anthropology Building, providing visitor parking for an hourly fee.

Langford Architecture Ctr - A (ARCA)

With three inaugural graduates in 1906, to its ca. 3,100 undergraduate and graduate students, the Langford Architecture Center houses classes in architecture, construction science, land and property development, landscape architecture, urban planning and visualization.

Langford studios, classrooms and computer labs are often papered with a mosaic of project posters or filled with original art pieces and three-dimensional models for review or exhibit. A hive of constant activity, Langford is a collaborative space where students and faculty gather to write, sculpt, paint, design and construct projects for the natural, built and virtual environments.

Known as a steward of the architecture program at Texas A&M, Ernest Langford, the building’s namesake, dedicated himself to inspiring others to reach their full potential. Professor Langford served as the head of the architecture department for 27 years (1929-1956).

Blocker Building (BLOC)

This building was dedicated in 1983 and named in honor of John R. Blocker, a member of the class of 45, and former member of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. Blocker continued to lead as a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Blocker Energy Corporation, the fifteenth largest contract drilling company in the world. Later, Blocker also founded the President's Endowed Scholarship and the Twelfth Man Scholarship.

With its number of lecture halls, classrooms, and labs, the Blocker building is a workhorse for teaching and study at Texas A&M University. The first floor welcomes the building's constant flow of visitors with a snack bar, vending machines, and an open-access lab available to all students. The remainder of the building is divided among various divisions of the departments of mathematics, science, statistics, and agricultural economics, and the Academy for Advanced Telecommunication and Learning Techniques.

Bolton Building (BLTN)

Bolton Hall was constructed in 1912 as the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Building. Bolton is located across from Nagle Hall in the Academic Plaza. The facades are mirror images except for posts on either side of Bolton entryway's steps.

On November 24, 1921, students used the building for broadcasting what is believed to be the nation’s first play-by-play of a football game, according to the Texas Historical Commission marker at Kyle Field.

The building was renamed in 1939 after Frank C. Bolton, head of the electrical engineering department. During World War I, Bolton was head of the training for the U.S. military on campus. He also directed the radio training school, according to A Centennial History of Texas A&M University, Vol. II by Henry Dethloff. Later, Bolton served as acting college president during the peak years of WWII and as president following the war.

In 1989, the building was renovated for the political science department. Today, the building houses the communication department in the College of Liberal Arts. The Century Tree is in front of the building.

Built in 1929 as a shining jewel of fundamental scientific education and research, the Texas A&M Chemistry Building was designed by S.C.P. Vosper using classical proportions and details. Future expansions to the east in 1981 and 1988 have resulted in the present-day, multi-addition complex symbolic of the rich and multifaceted discipline housed within its myriad walls. The building's ornamentation employs a variety of color schemes in tile patterns inspired by the art of the Mexican Americans and includes patterns of animal heads, skulls, bones and fossils. The main entrance is highlighted by the building's most dramatic feature - a monumental staircase leading to pedimented doorways that seamlessly transition from bold exterior statement to interior class and elegance. The foyer area ceiling features intricate painted gold grillwork against a backdrop of dark Russian marble panels and complementary lighting fixtures. An additional staircase leads to the building's historical heart and soul, the Arthur E. Martell Lecture Hall, the site of generations of introductory chemistry and educational outreach experiences as well as exciting exposure to the many wonders of the elemental science that calls this building home.

Brown Chemical Engineering (CHEN)

The Jack E. Brown Chemical Engineering Building is located at the corner of University Drive and Spence Street. This seven-story 205,000 square-foot building opened its doors in 2004. It is the home of the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering and the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center as well as classrooms, computer labs and a 600 square-foot computer cluster room.

CE/TTI Building (CVLB)

The CE/TTI Building, an 85,640-square-foot building shared with the Texas A&M University Zachry Department of Civil Engineering, houses a portion of TTI staff and interconnects to several laboratory and office buildings, including the Wisenbaker Engineering Research Center (WERC), the High-Bay Structural and Materials Testing Lab, the Highway Materials Laboratory, the Concrete Laboratory, and the Spectrum Analysis Laboratory. This is a setting ideal for student and engineering faculty participation in TTI's multidisciplinary program of research.

Harrington Education Tower (EDCT)

Completed in 1973, the tower connects to the Harrington Education Classroom Building by an outdoor skywalk on the second levels. Located north of the Academic Building and surrounded by nearby buildings including Cushing and Evans Libraries, Francis Hall, Thompson Hall, and Bolton Hall. The center is home to the College of Education and Human Development.

The center's namesake is Marion Thomas Harrington, class of 1922. Harrington was the first Aggie to fill the role of A&M president, from 1950 to 1953, and again from 1957 to 1959. He was also the first former student to become President and then Chancellor of the University in 1953.

Emerging Technologies (ETB)

The Emerging Technologies Building, Texas A&M's place for innovation and collaboration, is located on the corner of North Bizzell Street and University Drive. This five-story, 212,000 gross square foot building opened its doors in the Fall of 2011. It is the headquarters for the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and houses interdisciplinary research labs for the College of Engineering, the College of Architecture, the College of Geosciences and the College of Science.

Fermier Hall (FERM)

The then-Mechanical Engineering Building was completed in 1919 and was the last Rolland Adelsperger, head of the architecture department, designed. Fermier Hall was campus architects’ “last attempt to ‘adopt’ the Romanesque ‘style of architecture,’” according to university archives. The building was originally topped with twin Roman steeples. Mechanical engineering workshops, where J.R. Thompson Building is now located, were set up in 1922. The building is located on Ross Street.

It was renamed in 1925 for Emil Jerome Fermier, chairman of the department and popular professor from 1906 to 1927. He was director of the engineering experiment station from 1922 until his death in 1925.

It was renovated in 1972, and, today, is home to the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution.

Francis Hall (FRAN)

Francis Hall is the first stand alone facility in the State of Texas dedicated to construction education. The opportunity to renovate a building that is dedicated solely to the Department of Construction Science symbolizes the notable excellence of the program and helps to increase the number and quality of students.

Situated in the middle of campus, adjacent to the Sterling E. Evans Library, Francis Hall was built in 1918 to house veterinary studies. When the building became vacant, the department recognized an opportunity to increase student enrollment as well as a chance to provide a high quality learning environment for construction science majors. The building includes a state of the art BIM Cave, a safety lab, a student lounge, a conference/bid room, and exposed mechanical, electrical, and structural systems that make the building a virtual learning laboratory.

Also included is a state-of-the-art auditorium and several classrooms. Space for student competition teams and student chapters provides our student leaders with opportunities to excel in competitions throughout the nation and improve leadership and management skills.

The department moved into Francis Hall in late 2014 and opened its doors for the first time to its 984 excited students on January 20, 2015.

The Michael T. Halbouty '30 Geosciences Building Complex houses the department of geology and geophysics, which offer numerous modern classrooms and well-equipped laboratories available for teaching and geophysical research.

In 1997, the historical Dudley Hughes '51 Lecture Hall within the building was renovated, and its beautiful stained glass windows were preserved. Originally known as "Room 101," this state-of-the-art lecture hall offers everything a professor needs to project slide, as well as a surround sound for the video system.

Haynes Engineering Building (HEB)

Haynes Engineering Building (1932), designed by Frederick E. Giesecke, is one of the last highly ornamental buildings constructed on campus. A classical revival two-storied stone structure is faced in brick, with cast stone and ceramic tile ornamentation. Originally used as a veterinary hospital with two additional buildings at the rear, used as stables and anatomy laboratory. The entrance is identified by a cast tone carving of a saddle and a longhorn. The parapets at the building ends have pediments with patterns of horse and cow heads, human figures and shield

The laboratory science building was built in 1977, and is located next to the Biological Sciences Building – West on Nagle Street.

It was named after Hugo C. “Tony” Heldenfels, class of 1935. Heldenfels was a third-generation co-owner of Heldenfels Brothers, a Texas construction business. Heldenfels served on the Board of Regents from 1961 to 1965, and president from 1965 to 1967.

H. R. Bright Building (HRBB)

Completed in 1989, the H. R. Bright Building is home to the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science and is located on Ross Street, next to the Langford Architecture complex.

Named after Harvey R. Bright, class of 1943, Bright is known for his investments, politics, and as the principal owner of the Dallas Cowboys from 1984 to 1989. Bright was chairman of the Board of Regents from 1981 to 1985 and was awarded as a distinguished alumnus in 1991. The football complex at the south end of Kyle Field is also named for him.

Innovative Learning Classroom Building (ILCB)

The Innovative Learning Classroom Building at Texas A&M University is a key component of the institution's goal to build a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. The new 118,000-square-foot building will house 2,200 general purpose classroom seats in 10 classrooms. Located across two levels of the building, instructional spaces range in size from 600-seat in-the-round arenas to 72-seat learning studios. Informal study spaces will support the formal learning environments, creating a learning landscape for students and faculty to interact across the three-story building. On the top floor are offices for three instructional support groups - Center for Teaching Excellence, Office for Academic Innovations, and Instructional Media Services - collocated in the building to enhance and better promote active learning pedagogies at TAMU.

Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB)

The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building is home to first-class researchers who are pursuing some of the most complex and challenging areas of inquiry in the life sciences. The ILSB includes approximately 220,000 gross square feet of space for research laboratories, teaching, and related activities.

The Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB) was designed for research investigation in many different areas of interest in the life sciences. Currently, the facility focuses on three general subject areas—bioinformatics, neuroscience, and structural biology. These are prominent areas in the national and international research communities, interconnected, and have the potential for advancement of human health and the life sciences as a whole.

James J. Cain '51 Building (JCAIN)

Completed in 1986, the Engineering/Physics Building houses offices, classrooms and laboratories for the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Physics Department. The south wing and north wing of the building are connected with skywalk.

The building was renamed in 2004 for James J. Cain. Cain graduated from Texas A&M University in 1951 with a degree in mechanical engineering and made a 35-year career with Mobil Oil. During his long and distinguished career at Mobil Oil, Cain was renowned for his desire to mentor students and faculty at Texas A&M. He took great pride in being a part of Mobil’s college recruiting team, often filling positions with Aggie graduates. Not interested in seeking his own recognition, Cain generously gave the students and faculty of Texas A&M his time, knowledge, expertise and financial support.

Liberal Arts & Humanities Building (LAAH)

Designed and constructed in 2011, this building is the first on Texas A&M's campus specifically designed for instruction and scholarship in the arts and humanities. It opened for classes in spring 2013. The state-of-the-art facility offers performance studies majors a black box theatre and recording studios, along with computer-based teaching classrooms and office spaces for the Department of English and the Department of Performance Studies.

Military Science Building (MILS)

The Military Science Building was originally the Extension Service Building when Edwin B. LaRoche designed it in 1924. It was designated as the Military Science Building in 1933 when the 1920 building was razed. The Trigon, as it is more commonly referred, holds offices for faculty and classrooms for the ROTC program in the Corps of Cadets and the office of the Commandant. The building is located at Throckmorton and Lamar Street. The facade features six brick columns and three arches at the original entryway.

Bask in the breath-taking views, open spaces, and bright future of Texas A&M Physics and Astronomy epitomized by the George P. Mitchell '40 Physics Building and the George P. and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy. Dedicated in December 2009 and hailed as permanent showpieces for quality architecture and focal points of the Texas A&M campus, the $82.5 million buildings are designed by noted architect Michael Graves and are the first on campus to be financed through a public-private partnership involving substantial donor funds - a $35 million lead gift from George P. and Cynthia Woods Mitchell that represented the largest donation to Texas A&M's $1 billion "One Spirit One Vision" capital campaign.

The two buildings feature nearly 200,000 square feet of dedicated space for consolidated physics teaching and research activities, in addition to the campus's first rooftop garden showcasing native Texas plants chosen for their fragrance and color. From the Foucault pendulum and Penrose tile that dazzle visitors as they enter the Mitchell Institute to the high-tech classrooms and teaching laboratories that dominate the Mitchell Physics Building, the two facilities collectively deliver on the Mitchells' original vision of them as the cornerstone of the university's burgeoning physics and astronomy programs.

O and M Building (OMB)

The 15-story David G. Eller Oceanography and Meteorology Building - referred to as the O and M Building around campus - opened in 1973 and is the tallest building at Texas A&M. The 109,609 square feet of the O and M Building are filled with office, classroom, labs and storage space. The building is home to the Departments of Geography, Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography. The roof of the O and M Building is outfitted with a Doppler radar system, which provides critical data on severe storms in the area.

Scoates Hall (SCTS)

Scoates Hall (1932), originally known as the Agricultural Engineering Building, was designed by Frederick E. Giesecke, in a classical revival style. The south entrance has a decorative two-storied element with intricate carvings and beautiful ironwork frames, lamps and grillwork. The facade is decorated with ornamental cornices and symbols in cast stone including goat heads and owl figures. The second floor interior hall ceiling has ornamental ironwork and agricultural motifs. The building is named in honor of Daniels Scoates, professor and head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering from 1919-1939. It was intended as part of a never completed agricultural quadrangle.

YMCA Building (YMCA)

The Y.M.C.A. Building became a hub of campus life with its chapel, bowling alley and pool, which no longer exist in the building. The front steps became the site of the first Midnight Yell in the early 1930s. The facade features architectural details such as four columns two stories tall and entablatures. The building is located on Military Walk, but street access is on Houston Street.

Sampson J. Fountain, head of the architecture department, designed the building. Fountain was the son of Charles Fountain, head of the English department and namesake for the Corps dorm Fountain Hall. Donations from students, alumni and the John D. Rockefeller Foundation funded the building construction.

Zachry Engineering Center (ZACH)

Located at the intersection of University Drive and Bizzell Street, the Zachry Engineering Education Complex is the largest academic building on campus and unlike any other facility in the nation. The 525,000-square-foot complex completely modernizes the original Zachry Engineering Center and expands the facility to include a state-of-the-art Engineering Design Center as well as expansive instructional labs.

Agriculture & Life Sciences (AGLS)

Headquarters to our nearly 6,500 students from more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 14 academic departments, the Agriculture and Life Sciences (AGLS) building houses the Office of the Dean of the College Agriculture and Life Sciences, 3 academic departments, and 7 classrooms. With dedicated faculty and almost 60 academic advisors committed to student success, our college is a place that combines world-class research and teaching with genuine Aggie friendliness.

As a recognized leader in agriculture, natural resources and life sciences, the college is proud to reside in the environmentally friendly building. Seven state-of-the-art classrooms and open-access computer labs are located on the first floor. The computer labs provide a wide range of computers, software, scanners and printers, and the classrooms feature sophisticated projection systems and stadium-style risers.

Academic departments include Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication (ALEC), Agricultural Economics (AGEC), and Recreation, Parks and Tourism Sciences (RPTS). Also housed in the building are Texas A&M AgriLife agency director's offices of Texas AgriLife Research and Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
The complex includes numerous bike racks for health-and-energy-conscious commuters, as well as three showers inside the building for cyclists, walkers and others who exercise during the day.

Bush Academic Building West-Allen (ALLN)

In a little more than a decade, the Bush School has made remarkable strides toward becoming one of the leading public and international affairs graduate schools in the nation. The belief of George Bush, 41st President of the United States, in the nobility of public service has been the cornerstone of the School's philosophy and continues to shape all aspects of the curriculum, research, and student experience.

The Soil and Crop Sciences and Entomology Center was built in 1977, initiating West Campus development on the west side of Wellborn Road. A glass, multi-story prism lobby joins the two parallel buildings.

The Heep Center on West Campus is named for Herman F. Heep and his wife Minnie. Herman Heep, class of 1920, was influential in developing the A&M College Development Fund, now Texas A&M Foundation. His wife, Minnie Belle, donated the funds for the building through the Heep Foundation.

The Herman F. Heep Laboratory Building, commonly referred to as “Old Heep,” was built in 1957 and is located on Lamar Street, next to the Student Computing Center and Central Parking Garage.

Horticulture Forest Science (HFSB)

Kleberg Center (KLCT)

Home to the department of animal science, nutrition and food science, and poultry science, this five-story building is equipped with modern laboratories, study areas and classrooms facilities that offer students the latest technology for research projects and academic performance.

The building was dedicated in 1978 in honor of Robert Kleberg, Jr., of the King Ranch, the creator of the Santa Gertrudis breed of cattle and master horse breeder.

Meat Science Technology Center (MSTC)

The center is a part of the animal science department and serves as a facility for teaching, research and public service activities, according to its website. Throughout the year, students and faculty process meats for sale, including a special summer sausage that is packaged in the shape of a football. The Texas Aggie brand beef jerky received national attention from The New York Times in 2007.

The 1982 West Campus building is named for E.M. “Manny” Rosenthal, class of 1942. Rosenthal grew up working at his family’s meat processing business, Standard Meat Co. in Fort Worth, according to his obituary in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Rosenthal and his wife donated funds for the first endowed chair in the United States to provide for research and education in meat sciences in 1987. The building was then renamed in his honor.

National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM)

The NCTM offers 152,000 square feet of workforce development and contract biomanufacturing space. The academic wing provides nearly 50,000 square feet of educational facilities with well-appointed wet labs, cell culture facility, spacious lecture and conference halls, software training laboratory, and fully-equipped mock current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) training suite that simulates pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

The Plant Pathology and Microbiology building was completed in 2019. Home to the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, the new building features classrooms and a “front porch” on the first floor. The 84,000-square-foot building consists of a four-story laboratory wing and a three-story teaching and departmental office wing.

The Plant Pathology and Microbiology building is located between the Horticulture/Forest Science Building and the Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center on West Campus.

Texas A&M University's Mays Business School educates more than 6,400 undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in accounting, business honors, finance, management, management information systems, marketing and supply chain management. Mays consistently ranks among the top public business schools in the country for its undergraduate and MBA programs, and for faculty research. It has been accredited by the AACSB since 1972.

Mays' home in the Wehner Building offers a dynamic learning environment for faculty and students, featuring interactive teaching tools, wireless Internet throughout the building and multiple computer labs. Wehner is also home to the Reliant Energy Trading Center, a state of the art facility that seats up to 40 students and is outfitted with two Bloomberg terminals and the Kiodex Risk Workbench, a state-of-the-art trading and risk management platform.

Each year, more than 300 executives visit Mays classrooms, and more than 950 companies recruit our students - including 130 from the Fortune 500. Mays also boasts one of the largest student run career fairs in the country, which hosts over 225 companies.
